As a smaller organization, we are able to go case by case and support raisers in some circumstances.
Supplies & Financial
Assistance
Basic Skills:
Basic obedience commands, Socialization, Loose leash walking, Potty training, Public access behavior, Self-control around distractions, Grooming
Advanced Cues:
If a raiser shows interest in training advanced commands, they are able to communicate with their area coordinator and be granted special permission. Many of our raisers do train a basic retrieve as their dog's training progresses.

Puppy raisers are supplied with a manual, access to our online support group, and have constant support from their fellow raisers and area coordinators.
Training Guidance
Area coordinators or Topaz employees transport and schedule the transport of dogs moving on in their training. Raisers complete an exit interview and fill out a dog biography form detailing their puppy's skills and quirks. Puppy raisers always have at least on month of notice before their dog is called back for training/rotations and are able to reach out to Topaz at any time for updates.
Matriculation
Graduation is held each December, raisers are invited to see their puppies graduate and are able to meet their clients! Raisers are given contact to their puppy's clients.

Topaz Assistance Dogs is a small program that offers a comprehensive approach to puppy raising; working closely with Trainers, learning aspects of disability support, and more advanced dog behavior & training skills.
Topaz operates more like a family than anything else making the relationships built within it very special! We also specialize in training multipurpose service dogs, most of the dogs we place assist their handlers with multiple disabilities.
