Pawsible Inc. is expanding and is in need of an individual who can help manage the organization’s finances, including maintaining 501(c)(3) status, remitting state income taxes, updating financial statements, and more.  Please read to the end for an outline of our structure and we encourage you to visit our website for more information pawsibleinc.org


The position of Tax / Accounting Specialist is a remote, part-time, and unpaid position within a growing 501(c)3 nonprofit. No specific work experience is required but you must be able to perform the tasks assigned to you, even if that means learning on the job. We do ask that all applicants have experience in accounting or finances.


Minimum Expected Duties:

  • Coordinate with the Director of Finance and the CFO to manage funds and assist with budgeting

  • Assist in maintaining and managing 501(c)(3) status

  • Ensure Pawsible remits Maryland state sales tax in a timely and accurate manner

  • Identify grant opportunities, build a functional understanding of grant management, and assist in grant funding application

  • Manage grant applications in conjunction with the CFO and Director of Finance

Please note that this position is entirely remote. Zoom will be used for video conferencing and the Google Suite is used for all the organization’s activities and functions. Fluency in Google Drive products is required.

Requirements

As a Tax / Accounting Specialist, we are seeking an individual that:

  • Can work remotely for 3 - 7 hours a week (hours are flexible) and video conference for regular finance team meetings

  • Takes initiative, is hardworking, creative, resilient, and works well in a group

  • Has at minimum, basic knowledge about accounting, taxation, and/or financial management; preference is given to those with functional knowledge and relevant work/volunteer experience

  • Is willing to learn on the fly and creatively mesh their skills and ideas into the goals of the executive management team

  • Can balance and prioritize various tasks and goals while meeting deadlines

  • Is excited to work in the nonprofit industry and has an appreciation for assistance dogs and volunteers who raise and train them through their puppy years

  • Is willing to volunteer their time and effort to this position. Pawsible is young and currently unable to pay no executive or leader within the organization

  • A love for dogs is always a plus!

About Us

Pawsible is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that was co-founded by Vanessa Barker (CEO) and Cate Law (CPO) in March 2019 to financially assist volunteer raisers of future assistance dogs who are required to pay for at least part of the basic needs of the puppy. To assist puppy raisers, Pawsible operates programs focused on providing financial support, community development, and leadership / professional development to volunteer puppy raisers. 


Pawsible's executive management is responsible for growing and maintaining the operations of Pawsible, also reporting their progress to Pawsible's Board of Directors. Pawsible’s mission is to not just assist individuals and groups in need of support within the assistance dog industry, but also to advocate for them provide mechanisms of support for their endevours.
