Director of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

Pawsible is expanding and is in need of an individual who can lead Pawsible's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and our DEI team. We are looking for someone that has experience in social advocacy & education and ideally a background in organizational diversity, equity, and/or inclusion. The position of Director of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion is a remote, part-time, and unpaid position within a growing executive suite of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This position has not been filled before and the individual holding this position is expected to not only fulfill all outlined duties but also take initiative in growing the position and setting positive precedence. No specific work experience is required but you must be able to perform the tasks assigned to you, even if that means learning on the job.
Minimum Expected Duties:
Work closely with other directors and the C-Suite to meet the needs of Pawsible’s beneficiaries while also supporting Pawsible’s growth as an organization
Research and be an expert on all types of diversity, equity, and inclusion
Work with Director of Legal Affairs, Director of Outreach, and Director of Programs to create equity, inclusion, and diversity standards, training, and chapter resources
Work with the Chief Communications Officer to spread diversity, equity, and inclusion campaigns through Pawsible’s social media and ensure that our tone and directions are appropriate
Develop trainings to help members of Pawsible embrace and understand differing perspectives
Review all existing practices, trainings, and documents utilized by Pawsible with an eye for how to make them more inclusive
Develop ideas and methods of implementation for new programs and practices to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion in puppy raising
Lead research initiatives into puppy raising and assistance-dog-recipient demographics
Use research and engagement with the community to find the best ways to foster minority leaders in puppy raising and growth of those communities as puppy raisers
With time, help us build an entire team dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Please note that at this time this position is entirely remote. Zoom will be used for video conferencing and the Google Suite is used for all the organization’s activities and functions. Fluency in Google Drive products is required.

To fill the Director of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion position, we are seeking an individual that:
Can work remotely for 5 - 10 hours a week (hours are flexible) and video conference for regular executive management meetings
Takes initiative, is hardworking, creative, resilient, and works well in a group
Is willing to learn on the fly and creatively mesh their skills and ideas into the goals of the executive management team
Can balance and prioritize various tasks and goals while meeting deadlines
Is excited to work in the nonprofit industry and has an appreciation for assistance dogs and volunteers who raise and train them through their puppy years
Is willing to volunteer their time and effort to this position. Pawsible is young and currently unable to pay any executive or leader within the organization
A love for dogs is always a plus!

Pawsible is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that was co-founded by Vanessa Barker (CEO) and Cate Law (Senior Director of New Initiatives) in March 2019 to financially assist volunteer raisers of future assistance dogs who are required to pay for at least part of the basic needs of the puppy. To assist puppy raisers, Pawsible operates programs focused on providing financial support, community development, and leadership / professional development to volunteer puppy raisers.
Pawsible's executive management is responsible for growing and maintaining the operations of Pawsible, also reporting their progress to Pawsible's Board of Directors. Pawsible’s mission is to not just assist individuals and groups in need of support within the assistance dog industry, but also to advocate for them provide mechanisms of support for their endevours.
